Choosing a single-chamber refrigerator

If in old models a single-chamber refrigerator could have only one compartment (refrigerator or freezer), then both can be present in modern models. Unlike two-chamber equipment, in single-chamber models, both the refrigerator and freezer compartments are located behind the same door. The freezer compartment is always smaller, isolated from the refrigerator compartment, but the No Frost option, if present, does not completely cope with the formation of frost, and the chamber needs to be defrosted.

Also, in the freezer of a single-chamber refrigerator, there is no way to set quick freezing modes or set the temperature by degrees: manufacturers equip single-chamber appliances with minimal operating functionality in order to be able to reduce the price.

What to look for when choosing a single-chamber refrigerator?

• The main advantage of a single-chamber refrigerator is its small dimensions. Therefore, in a small apartment or a room for one person, a compact single-chamber refrigerator is the best choice.
• Is there a need for a freezer compartment? If the refrigerator is used in a hotel room where there is no possibility of cooking, then you should not overpay. For home use, where buying semi-finished products makes sense, you should choose a refrigerator with a freezer compartment well insulated from the refrigerator: poor insulation will lead to the formation of a large amount of frost, and the equipment will need to be defrosted frequently.
• Number of branches. It depends on the dimensions, but the functionality in the form of drawers for vegetables, an egg compartment on the door and mobile shelves of at least 2 is an advantage that you will appreciate.
• Use equipment of a suitable climate class: if you use a refrigerator for the northern regions in hot latitudes, the equipment will wear out and fail prematurely. For Russia, choose an N-T class refrigerator (normal-tropic, temperature range 16-43 degrees).
• Themselves single-chamber refrigerators are relatively low-power, so they consume less electricity. Among refrigeration equipment, choose equipment with energy class A, A+, A++ and A+++: the more “+” signs, the more economical equipment with the same power.
• The presence of the No Frost option will increase the comfort of using the equipment, eliminating the need for frequent defrosting.
