Choosing a freezer

For those who cook for a large family, as well as for cafes, small restaurants and eateries, and in principle for any home, refrigerators with freezers are relevant. Only in each case, the requirements for the freezer compartment will differ.

What to look for when choosing a refrigerator with a freezer?

• Freezer type: This can be a refrigerator compartment, a chest freezer, or a freezer. If the first option is more intended for domestic use, then chests and cabinets, depending on the volume, cover the needs of cafes and restaurants.
• Volume. For one person, there is no point in a bulky freezer with several compartments: even one section will be enough. A family of three to four people will need at least three sections if food is cooked in the house. Accordingly, the volume of the freezer from 44 to 100 liters is enough for one person (model CTPSL 2541 COMFORT), and the chamber from 100 liters can be considered for a family (CBNEF 5715 COMFORT).
• Freeze Modes. The correct mode allows you to keep food fresh longer. For example, if the chamber is able to maintain a mode within -24 degrees, then the food in it can be stored without changes in properties for up to 1 year. At 18 degrees, you should count on six months, and at 12 - a maximum of 2-3 months. Superfrost modes allow you to freeze food quickly, so that they do not pick up moisture and do not get thermal burns.
• Defrost modes. Pay  attention to which defrost mode the selected refrigerator model supports: drip mode means manual defrost   in several months, depending on the degree of ice freezing on the walls. Refrigerators with the NoFrost option allow you to almost completely abandon manual defrosting due to forced ventilation inside the chamber and the absence of freezing.
• Number of sections. Even the large volume of the freezer makes storage in a chamber with one or two sections completely inconvenient: the products have to be stacked on top of each other, which is inconvenient and incorrect from the point of view of hygiene. For a chamber with a volume of 44 liters or more, the minimum required is two sections, from 100 liters - three or more.
• Location of the freezer in the refrigerator. The freezer compartment can be located at the bottom, under the refrigerator compartment, or at the top. From the point of view of practicality, in cafes or restaurants, products are often purchased in bulk, so the freezer is used more often: the top location is more convenient. For home cooking, food from the refrigerator is needed more often, so it is more convenient to choose the lower location of the freezer. However, if otherwise the refrigerator suits, then the location of the chamber should not interfere with the choice.
